On converting my emotional currency
At first it was painful to see her try to recreate our relationship with another person. These were all just gimmicks from a past time in our lives, and trying to assign new value to them was insulting. The gimmicks themselves were empty because it was the memories and meanings associated with them that created their purpose. It stung like salt in a wound.
