After today the rest of the 10 day forecast doesn’t drop below freezing. On the one hand… SWEET. On the other hand, things like this really make me worry about the ozone layer and weep for the future of humanity.

“Since I’ve Been Loving You” - Led Zeppelin
Was totally rocking out to Zeppelin III last night. I’ve gained such a new appreciation for this song in recent months.
I totally forgot about this day I spent with my dad last spring break. We drove out to Half Moon Bay, pretty much our favorite place ever. On the drive out we listened to TV on the Radio, U2 and Kanye West. It was really cloudy and rainy at first, and we hesitated when we were first hiking on the cliffs by the shore. Afterward we went to a favorite hiking place in the coastal hills, Purissima Creek. By the time we made it back out onto Highway 1 around 2 p.m. the cloudy skies had mostly cleared and it was a gorgeous California day. We got some cheap food at an authentic taqueria. It was wonderful. I miss the Bay Area, and I miss my dad. Definitely planning on recreating this day next time I’m home, and maybe with a slight twist.

“Hercules” - Elton John
After watching Almost Famous and falling back in love with it last weekend I’ve been hitting Zeppelin III and Elton John’s album Honky Chateau pretty hard. I had sort of forgotten about this song though. My mom played a lot of Elton for me when I was in elementary school (my favorite at the time was “Crocodile Rock”), and this was the song she loved the most. I have a lot of memories sitting in our living room on hot summer evenings with this song wafting through the still and sticky air.
